The Gorge Literary Journal is “a small place to hear large voices.” Published twice a year within the Hood River News and on The Gorge Lit website, it is an opportunity for local Columbia Gorge writers. We do not have the space to publish nonlocal writers.

We publish a winter edition published between February and April and a summer edition published between August and October. Submissions are always open and we have rolling deadlines. Depending on when you submit, your piece will be considered for either the Summer or Winter editions.

All submissions are anonymous to ensure editors’ local friendships don’t color the selections. Your name is revealed after an editorial decision is made. Submissions with identifying information in the body of the work will be rejected. Limit two pieces per writer (maximum two prose items OR one prose and one poem OR two poems). Also, we get a lot of poetry, you're best chance for acceptance is fiction, which we actively seek.

And please read (and follow!) our Submission Guidelines.

No, seriously. Disregarding the guidelines will prevent us from considering your work.
